Washington movies to be screened under the stars

While the heyday of drive-in movies may have been and gone, a series of events planned for Washington will offer the atmosphere of an outdoor movie experience.

The Golden Triangle Business Improvement District (BID) has decided to bring back its series of movies screened under the stars. Each picture will begin once the sun goes down, and this year, the season will kick off with the reboot of “The Lion King” that was in theatres in 2019.

The movies shown during these community gatherings will all be family friendly, making these screenings an idea for a night out for parents and kids. It can also be a fun date night activity, or friends’ night out in the summer.

Farragut Square, which will be the venue for these events, is accessible by public transit and has lots of room for all the movie goers to spread out a blanket or set up a folding chair. A poster printing company can aid in promoting this type of activity by preparing whimsical cinema-style posters, and these can even be sold during the function itself to help raise money to meet the expense of hosting the evening.

This summer’s outdoor film screenings will kick off on June 12. With the exception of July 3, they will take place each Friday until July 31.
